1000 Ghost Houses - Exhibition Opening by Dana Langlois
About this event
1000 Ghost Houses, Dana Langlois’s photographic series shot in Sihanoukville in early 2024, turns its lens on the city’s unfinished buildings and the people quietly living inside them. The construction boom that preceded COVID-19 left hundreds of large-scale developments abandoned mid-build - some stood empty, others became informal homes, creating a strange collision between massive concrete structures and the small details of daily life. Langlois’s photographs rarely show faces, focusing instead on the traces people leave behind - bedsheets hung for privacy, clothes on a wire, a chair, a pair of shoes, a teapot. Where “ghost building” usually describes the structure itself, this series shifts the idea toward the people inside them: present, but largely unseen. Opening: Saturday, October 24 | 4PM - 8PM
