Twice a year, the Tonle Sap River reverses course - a natural rhythm that mirrors the cycles of death and rebirth playing out in the lives it sustains. Filmmaker Kalyanee Mam spent two years in her native Cambodia tracing that rhythm through the eyes of three young Cambodians confronting the crushing weight of deforestation, overfishing and debt. The result, A River Changes Course (2012, 83 min), tells a devastating and beautiful story of an ancient culture caught in the collision with globalization. Khmer with English subs. Free entrance.
