Kyoto kimono artisan Kikuo Morimoto arrived in Cambodia after the civil war to find traditional textile weaving on the verge of extinction. He reclaimed idle, deforested land and built a village sustained almost entirely by traditional dyeing and weaving, sparking a renaissance in Cambodian textile culture and a widely lauded model for pairing a self-sustaining community with the revival of tradition.
