Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore and Steve Buscemi lead a cast that turns detective fiction, absurd comedy and countercultural satire into one of the most beloved cult classics in cinema. Only modestly successful on release, the film has since grown into a full-blown cultural phenomenon, spawning festivals, fan conventions and endless quotable lines — few films have earned this level of devotion or left this deep a mark on popular culture.
