Hip Hop & Hope: Book Launch with Romi Grossberg
About this event
After hitting #1 New Release on Amazon in Cambodia and Travel, and touring packed rooms across Australia and Asia, Romi Grossberg’s memoir Hip Hop & Hope finally comes home. Meta House hosts a one-night book launch for the story of what happened when Romi, then 35 and working as a social worker in Australia, walked away from her life for a two-year contract at Tiny Toones, a hip hop youth centre in the slums of Phnom Penh - and never quite left. Part memoir, part history, part travelogue, the book traces a Phnom Penh shaped by street kids turned artists, breakdancing’s path to the TEDx stage, and the trust and friendship that held it all together. Romi will be joined by Tiny Toones founder KK and several of the kids from the story, now grown. Half of all book sale proceeds go back to Tiny Toones. Saturday, October 31 | 7PM Meta House Free entrance | English
