About this event
Formed by basketball teammates in 2019 and named after the TTP thrift shop where they first jammed upstairs, Japan Guitar Shop has spent seven years building one of the most substantial bodies of original music in Phnom Penh's independent scene. Their debut album, Done You Right, took a year to record at 60 Road Studios in Siem Reap, released in 2024 to widespread acclaim and later pressed to vinyl through Pearl of Asia Records - with a follow-up now taking shape in the studio. Along the way, the band has toured extensively across Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand, headlined Zandari Festa in Seoul, Shambala Festival in Chiang Dao, and Canopy Festival in Phnom Penh, and shared stages with Dengue Fever, Skeleton Goode, and Latvian band Carnival Youth, whom they brought to Cambodia after crossing paths on the festival circuit. Opening the night is Wayfarer State, the American blues and folk troubadour who found fame in Busan and has played everywhere from New Orleans to Beijing. motodop, 8C Street 460, Tuol Tompoung Saturday, September 19th, 7pm $5
