About this event

“Occupied City” (2023, 226 min) finds Steve McQueen tracing Amsterdam’s Nazi occupation and drawing it into direct conversation with the city’s present, from protests to a global pandemic. Adapted from Bianca Stigter’s sweeping book of biographies and testimonies, the film reshapes how World War II stories get told onscreen - a poetic, engrossing meditation on how the past’s ghosts linger in a modern city, both shattering and quietly inspiring.
