About this event
Rookie FBI agent Johnny Utah goes undercover in Southern California's surfing scene to catch the Ex-Presidents, a gang of bank robbers who commit their heists wearing masks of former U.S. presidents, closing out Four Weeks of Kathryn Bigelow on its wildest note with Point Break. Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze star as Utah's bond with the gang's charismatic, spiritually-minded leader Bodhi deepens, blurring the line between cop and criminal across surfing, skydiving and shootouts. Developed with Bigelow's then-husband James Cameron and shot across the western US coast, the film became her commercial breakthrough and endures as one of the most beloved action films of the '90s - later landing on Empire's list of the 100 greatest movies ever made, directly inspiring The Fast and the Furious, and even prompting AMC to greenlight a sequel series in 2025, decades after the original.
Rolling Stone called it the greatest female-gaze action movie ever made, while Rotten Tomatoes' Critics Consensus described it as absurd, over-the-top and often wildly entertaining.
