Wine Wednesday brings classic jazz standards, sultry bossa nova and swinging grooves to motodop, led by vocalist Machiko Mary - a veteran of Osaka’s jazz and bossa nova circuit who’s been a fixture of Cambodia’s live music scene since 2013, performing with acts like Takeshi & Mary and the Blue Wave quartet/quintet. Backing her: Dr. George Hess on guitar, bringing 50+ years of performing and teaching across the U.S. and Asia with credits alongside Ryo Kawasaki, David Liebman, Randy Brecker, Bob Berg and Rufus Reid; and McGill-trained James Parm on bass, a guitarist, composer and producer in his own right who adds a contemporary, exploratory edge to the group’s improvisation. As always on Wednesdays, happy hour runs all night on premium wines by the glass from 4PM: Crios Rosé of Malbec 2024 ($5.50), De Bortoli 17 Trees Pinot Grigio 2023 ($5) and De Bortoli 17 Trees Shiraz 2024 ($5), plus 15% off the sharing menu with any bottle purchase.
